On April 30, 2021, a seminar “New solutions for urban logistics” was held
Working language of the conference: English.
The speaker of the meeting was Tom Assman, head of the research group at the University of Magdeburg. Tom is also an expert in urban logistics planning, emerging technologies for sustainable logistics and a consultant on urban logistics projects.
Objectives of the seminars:
- Motivation of stakeholders to use new approaches to building urban logistics systems;
- Sharing knowledge about urban logistics solutions and planning principles;
- Demonstration of the feasibility of cargo bicycles as an effective solution in the field of urban logistics and development of proposals for urban logistics for the Urban Mobility Sustainable Development Plan.
As a result of the seminar, concepts and models of urban logistics development were presented. The participants of the forum also took part in the discussion of the problems of urban logistics in the city of Almaty, which hinder the promotion of the delivery of goods by means of bicycle transport. The seminar is part of a series of seminars aimed at promoting new sustainable urban logistics solutions focused on the greater use of Cargo Bike and local logistics hubs.
